Biography

Dr. Ayşenur Karakaş-Aydınbakar is an economist specializing in household economics, labor economics, and women’s studies, with a primary focus on intergenerational transmission and women’s economic vulnerability. She earned her PhD in Economics from Tohoku University in 2019, following an MSc from Istanbul Technical University and a BSc from Istanbul University. She serves as an Assistant Professor at the Social Sciences University of Ankara.

Her research extensively examines the economic dimensions of household decision-making and the impact of major life transitions, such as divorce and maternal employment, on women’s socioeconomic outcomes in Türkiye and Japan. She is a prolific researcher whose work has appeared in prestigious international journals, including Women’s Studies International ForumFeminist Media StudiesGender IssuesJournal of Social and Personal Relationships, and The Singapore Economic Review.
