Dr. Ayşenur Karakaş-Aydınbakar is an economist specializing in household economics, labor economics, and women’s studies, with a primary focus on intergenerational transmission and women’s economic vulnerability. She earned her PhD in Economics from Tohoku University in 2019, following an MSc from Istanbul Technical University and a BSc from Istanbul University. She serves as an Assistant Professor at the Social Sciences University of Ankara.

Her research extensively examines the economic dimensions of household decision-making and the impact of major life transitions, such as divorce and maternal employment, on women’s socioeconomic outcomes in Türkiye and Japan. She is a prolific researcher whose work has appeared in prestigious international journals, including Women’s Studies International Forum, Feminist Media Studies, Gender Issues, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, and The Singapore Economic Review.
